It’s every pastor’s least favorite thing to preach on.
For most of us, we’d like to avoid talking about giving at all costs. It feels awkward and we worry about being seen as selfish or even manipulative.
But there are over 2,300 verses in the Bible about money. Money has the possibility of propelling our spiritual lives or tearing it down.
As a pastor, shepherding how your church deals with their money is one of your most important jobs of discipleship.
Here are 17 scriptures on money for your next sermon on giving or offering time.

PROVERBS 3:9
Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.
2 CORINTHIANS 8:9
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake, he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.
1 TIMOTHY 6: 9-10
But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
1 TIMOTHY 6:17-19
As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

2 CORINTHIANS 9:7
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
MARK 12:41-44
And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”
